Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution
- Bill C-300 An Act Respecting Corporate Accountability for the Activities of Mining, Oil and Gas Corporations in Developing Countries. We have been asking Members of Parliament to support this bill in order to hold Canadian mining companies accountable for their practices overseas.
- Bill C-35 An Act to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (cracking down on crooked consultants) with respect to how it will affect those individuals who are legitimately helping with certain immigration matters and charging modest fees, but who may not be able to afford certification through the new regulatory body.
- Bill C-49 An Act to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the Balanced Refugee Reform Act and the Marine Transportation Security Act (preventing human smugglers from abusing Canada's Immigration System Act). We will be asking Members of Parliament to vote against this bill.

- Bill C-36 An Act Respecting the Safety of Consumer Products (Canada Consumer Product Safety Act). We have been working with Department of Health officials in a consultation process for the exemption regulations.
- Working with Citizenship officials on the issue of loss of citizenship as it relates to the implementation Bill C-37 An Act to Amend the Citizenship Act.

- Aboriginal Affairs as relates to rights of indigenous peoples' landclaims, access to proper housing, and clean water on reserves.
- Criminal Law Reform as it relates to our work on restorative justice and victims' rights.
- International Relations as related to Canadian foreign policy in Afghanistan concerning international development and the withdrawal of Canadian troops.
- International Relations as relates to development in southern Sudan and humanitarian aid to Darfur.
- International Relations as relates to humanitarian issues in Palestine and the Palestine/Israel peace process.
- Refugee and immigration policies as related to war resisters.

Description of the organization's activities
Mennonite Central Committee Canada (MCCC) is the relief, development and service agency of the mennnite and Brethren in Christ churches in Canada. Programs and activities in Canada deal with native peoples, refugees, crime and justive issues, job creation and poverty issues. Overseas work is done in Partnership with U.S. Mennonites through the Bi-national Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). MCC is active in over 50 countries in the areas of agriculture, health education, social services, peace and conflict resolution, and micro-enterprise development. In Canada there are also five autonomous provincial organizations also called Mennonite Central Committee whose sphere of activity is similar to MCCC's.

MCCC is supported by and accountable to eight Mennonite and Brehtren in Christ Church groups comprising 600 congregations across Canada. These groups elect representatives to the MCCC membership. The membership also includes representatives from each of the five provincial MCC organizations.
