Agri-Retail Site Security Contribution Program. CAAR is requesting assistance from several government departments, including AAFC, the Transport, Communities and Infrastructure Portfolio, and Public Safety, to comply with and prepare for government- and industry-led safety and security requirements. Assistance is being asked for in the form of a legislated tax credit or a direct contribution program.

Description of the organization's activities

The Canadian Association of Agri-Retailers (CAAR) is a non-profit association working for the common interests of crop input retailers on a national level. Activities of the Association include: 1) Production of several publications, including the communicator magazine, a member newsletter and a monthly electronic newsletter for directors; 2) An annual convention and trade show; 3) Regional meetings to discuss member issues; 4) Safety and training seminars on various topics (predominantly related to fertilizers and chemicals); 5) Ad hoc research and lobbying on issues which affect the crop input sector.
