Grant, Contribution or Other Financial Benefit
- AFMC has developed several proposals around health human resources; to the way international medical graduates are handled; Visa Trainees; clinical teachers and investigators; as well as for the creation of a national observatory to centralize HHR planning at the federal level.
- AFMC has proposed to the Minster of Finance, and other MPs and Senators, that Canada create a federal program, titled the Canadian Medical Education Innovation Fund, which would provide funds for AFMC to identify. evaluate, and disseminate innovative approaches to medical education throughout Canada.
- AFMC has submitted a proposal to Health Canada to extend project funding for the "Future of Medical Education in Canada" project to include both Post-Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development
- AFMC has submitted a proposal to the Office of Nursing Policy of Health Canada for funding the implementation phase of our Accreditation of Inter-professional Education project
- AFMC seeks increased funding to enhance educational programming relating to our professionalism, aboriginal health needs, public health, end-of-life/palliative care and Francophone minorities projects.

- AFMC has proposed that the Federal Government examine the possibility of investing, on a cost-sharing basis with the provinces, in the creation of one or more new faculties of Medicine.
Policies or Program
- AFMC has created a response to the Federal Science and Technology (S&T) strategy, including proposed priorities for spending and programming in health-related areas.
- AFMC has developed a proposal, with the Canadian Medical Associaiton, to repatriate Canadians studying medicine abroad by offering clerkship opportunities for them in Canada. This proposal also involves increasing the number of residency positions in Canada to accommodate those students successful in the CaRMS match. We are presenting this proposal to Industry Canada as well as Health Canada

Description of the organization's activities
The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada is the national voice for the 17 Canadian medical faculties. In its advocacy role, AFMC actively engages government and key stakeholders on public policy debates related to health, medical education and research funding, issues on health human resources and medical education. AFMC also manages a rigorous system of accreditation at both the undergraduate and continuing medical education levels for all 17 Canadian faculties of medicine. The Canadian Post-M.D. Education Registry (CAPER) is the active data-gathering and research arm of the organization with an interest in the post-M.D. clinical education of physicians in Canada. Finally, AFMC's Social Accountability Initiative (SAI) acknowledges and promotes the role of faculties of medicine in Canada in ensuring access to and quality of the system in order to meet the health needs of the population through interprofessionals models of education and care delivery, by addressing issues of professionalism and engaging with other key stakeholders in the areas of public health, Aboriginal health and end-of-life palliative care issues and with young leaders to look at what the health care system will be like in the future.AFMC also recently received funding from Health Canada to conduct a project on The Future of Medical Education in Canada.
