• Calling for a review of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act to address concerns related to security certificates and other security measures with a view to ensure due process and transparency, in conformity with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and international human rights standards.
• Calling for the creation of a parliamentary committee on National Security to oversee and review the mandate and activities of national security agencies
• Promoting legislative changes to the Fisheries Act to ensure adequate protection of aquatic habitats from pollution and degradation caused by the mining industry.

• Advocating for a review of the regime of no-fly lists and other ‘watchlists’ to ensure their compliance with Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedom.
• Calling for an end to promotion and protection of the interests of Canadian mining companies in the guise of technical support provided by the Canadian government to foreign governments regarding resource management.
• Calling for an end to the use of Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) to promote and protect the interests of Canadian mining operations overseas.
• Calling for the establishment of a regime of independent civilian oversight and complaint mechanisms for all agencies involved in national security, including Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC) and Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA).
• Calling for the respect of privacy rights, other Charter rights and civil liberties in proposed legislation related national security, including the surveillance of on-line communications.
• Ecological fiscal reform of taxation policies to shift incentives from primary extraction (mining) to secondary production (recycling) of metals. Removal of the “Super Flow Through Shares Program” and the “Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance” for mining.
• Promoting adoption by the government of an action plan for implementation of the UN’s the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
• Promoting respect for the rule of law and international covenants, including the United Nations Convention on Torture and the United Nations Refugee Convention, in the context of national security and “anti-terrorist” legislation and other non-legislated measures.
• Regulation of Canadian extractive companies operating internationally: discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the federal government's "Building the Canadian Advantage: A CSR Strategy for the International Extractive Sector" and how it is implemented.
• Reviewing, critiquing and seeking improvements to DFO’s habitat compensation program and “no net loss” policy to ensure protection of aquatic ecosystem values.
