- Canadian Mandatory Reporting in the Extractive Sector. Providing feedback, at NRCan’s request, on the federal government’s advancement toward official reporting of payments to governments in Canada from the extractive sector, including vehicle for mandatory reporting, definition of “scope”, equivalency (with Dodd Frank or European system Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative), and conflict of laws
Policies or Program
- At the invitation of federal and provincial public office holders, participated in a round table discussion, together with other industry members, regarding challenges facing the industry.
- Participation at the request of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) in an NRCan-led emergency response exercise related to fuel supply.
- Participation by Husky in meetings of the CSA Group Technical Committee on Flaring, Venting and Fugitive Emissions, CSA Standard Z620. The committee is involved in development of new standards to replace currently regulatory referenced best management practices.
- Providing feedback, at the request of the Minister of Natural Resources, on the government’s approach to: increasing clean technology investment; supporting the use of clean technology in natural resource industries; developing a Canadian Energy Strategy; and developing a long-term plan to modernize the National Energy Board.
- Providing input to the Federal-Provincial Offshore Land Tenure Policy Working Group.
- Recovery Strategy for Woodland Caribou, Boreal Population. Providing feedback, in response to public invitation by Environment Canada, on the federal government’s Draft Recovery Strategy for Woodland Caribou, Boreal Population.
Policies or Program, Regulation
- Atlantic Canada Offshore Oil and Gas Industry. Participation, through CAPP, in a series of presentations to provide general information to designated public office holders on opportunities and challenges faced by the oil and gas industry in the Atlantic region, including existing and suggested regulations and guidelines.
- Participation in a series of meetings to exchange general information with designated public office holders on current industry challenges, including the importance of considering impacts on Canada’s competiveness from current and future policies, programs, and regulations.
Regulation
- Base level industrial emission requirements (BLIERS). Providing feedback, at Environment Canada’s request, on the proposed BLIERS that make up one of the core elements of the Air Quality Management System. Once complete, BLIERS will provide quantitative and qualitative emissions requirements for new and existing major industrial sectors and some equipment types.
- Climate Change. Providing feedback, at Environment Canada's request, on the federal government's proposed climate change regulations for the oil and gas sector, including reduction targets, price of carbon, compliance options, and timing.
- Frontier Offshore Regulatory Renewal Initiative (FORRI). Participation, at the invitation of Natural Resources Canada, on behalf of the FORRI Steering Committee, in a CAPP working group to provide feedback relating to the development of a new framework regulation that will govern offshore oil and gas activities.
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Intensity Regulations - Providing feedback to Environment Canada on the proposed GHG Emission Intensity Performance Standard for Fuel Ethanol Production, including anticipated effects and challenges posed by such regulations to Husky's Lloydminster and Minnedosa Ethanol Plant operations
- Providing feedback, at NRCan's request, on a discussion paper on proposals for regulations under the Pipeline Safety Act related to liability.

Description of activities
Husky is a Canadian-based integrated energy and energy-related company with upstream, midstream and refined products operations. The Company operates primarily in the western provinces and offshore Canada’s East Coast, but also has international exploration and development interests offshore China, Indonesia and Greenland.
Upstream operations include exploration, development and production of crude oil, bitumen and natural gas.
Midstream operations encompass upgrading of heavy crude oil into premium synthetic crude oil, pipeline transportation, gas storage, cogeneration, and the marketing of a wide range of petroleum-based products.
