- COVID-19 – Engaging with the Government of Canada regarding the government’s COVID-19 virus response, and underlying issues such as suspension and resumption of the West White Rose project, OPEC pricing battle and the subsequent depressed oil price, and the potential impact on Husky’s business operations.
- Communication with Department of Finance and Natural Resources Canada regarding Canada’s proposed trade countermeasures to US tariffs on steel and aluminum.
- Communications with International Trade Policy Division (Safeguards), Finance Canada in response to its request for submissions on "Possible safeguard action related to imports of certain steel products".
- Discussion of federal fuel charge rebates. Husky expressed the opinion that the CRA should change its administrative policy to allow distributors to take deductions for rebates on the Fuel Charge return.
- Discussion with Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Innovation, Science and Economic Development with respect to Government of Canada “Ocean Super Cluster” Opportunities as initiated by the government.
- Discussion with Environment and Climate Change Canada regarding carbon pricing matters.
- Discussions in support of the federal government’s approval of the Trans Mountain Pipeline.
- Discussions with Canada Revenue Agency regarding federal carbon tax issues via participating in meetings organized by the Fuel Tax Council.
- Feedback on Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund – In response to a government request, Husky provided feedback, via CAPP, on technical aspects of the proposed GHG Reduction Fund.
- Fortress North America – Discussions with Natural Resources Canada related to Husky’s concerns with Fortress North America concept (curtailment, and tariffs, import bans, etc.) being floated by certain energy companies.
- Greenhouse Gas Offshore Program – Discussions with Natural Resources Canada and the Atlantic Canadian Opportunities Agency regarding the development of a potential greenhouse gas program related to offshore activities.
- Net Zero at West White Rose – Discussing potential pathways to net-zero for White Rose / West White Rose offshore projects.
- Participating in roundtable discussions to provide input and feedback on the 2018 Economic Update, including concerns from industry regarding overall competitiveness and support from the federal government.
- Participating in roundtable discussions with Natural Resources Canada and several industry representatives regarding environmental social, and governance (ESG) definitions and reporting requirements, and the Federal government’s support for innovation and technology development initiatives.
- Participation in meeting through CAPP to discuss Atlantic offshore business and the impact to the economy, duty relief through the Trans-Pacific and European Free Trade Agreements for vessels built in those regions and need for Canada to respond to the US tax reforms.
- Participation in meeting through CAPP to discuss various issues such as the International Seabed Authority’s focus on deep-water seabed mining and Article 82 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
- Petroleum Research – Participating in Petroleum Research – Newfoundland & Labrador meetings with members of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency to collaborate with industry peers on research of benefit to industry and government in Newfoundland.
- Providing input to the Federal-Provincial Offshore Land Tenure Policy Working Group.
- Regulatory discussions through CAPP - Participation through the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) to discuss ways to make the Atlantic offshore oil and gas industry more competitive.
- Well Retrieval Program – Providing input to Natural Resources Canada and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency regarding the development of a potential well retrieval program.

- Federal Output Based Performance Standard (OBPS) - Providing input on the Federal OBPS and cogeneration investments. Husky advocated for consideration of a steam benchmark for the Federal OBPS system so that stand-alone cogeneration units would not be unfairly burdened by the Federal OBPS.
Regulation
- Base level industrial emission requirements (BLIERS). Providing feedback, at Environment and Climate Change Canada’s request, on the proposed BLIERS that make up one of the core elements of the Air Quality Management System. Once complete, BLIERS will provide quantitative and qualitative emissions requirements for new and existing major industrial sectors and some equipment types.
- Climate Change. Providing feedback, at Environment and Climate Change Canada's request, on the federal government's proposed climate change regulations for the oil and gas sector, including reduction targets, price of carbon, compliance options, and timing.
- Communications with the Department of Fisheries and Ocean regarding how serious harm under the Fisheries Act should be calculated.
- Discussion with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) to discuss implications of the proposed Canadian Clean Fuel Standard on the transportation fuels sector.
- Discussion with Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat regarding amendment to regulations of the Treasury Board to encourage innovation.
- Frontier Offshore Regulatory Renewal Initiative (FORRI). Participation, at the invitation of Natural Resources Canada, on behalf of the FORRI Steering Committee, in a CAPP working group to provide feedback relating to the development of a new framework regulation that will govern offshore oil and gas activities.
- Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act – Communications regarding the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, clarification regarding perceived issues with the legislation, and review and comments on the draft, potential opt-in programs and concerns about registration for levy exemption certificates.

Description of activities
Husky is a Canadian-based integrated energy and energy-related company with upstream, midstream and refined products operations. The Company operates primarily in the western provinces and offshore Canada’s East Coast, but also has international exploration and development interests offshore China, Indonesia and Greenland.
Upstream operations include exploration, development and production of crude oil, bitumen and natural gas.
Midstream operations encompass upgrading of heavy crude oil into premium synthetic crude oil, pipeline transportation, gas storage, cogeneration, and the marketing of a wide range of petroleum-based products.
Refined products include the refining, marketing and distribution of gasoline, diesel, asphalt, ethanol and ancillary services in Canada and the United States, and a network of retail outlets.
