Description of the organization's activities
The Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) represents the interests of Advocis (The Financial Advisors Association of Canada) and CALU members to Members of Parliament and officials of key federal government departments, in particular, the Canada Revenue Agency and the Department of Finance on advanced tax issues relating to estate planning, corporate-owned life insurance, wealth creation and management, employee benefits and retirement planning.

Organization's membership or classes of membership
CALU has four classes of membership:
a) Active Members - members who are directly engaged in providing financial advice to members of the public
b) Associate Members - members who are not directly engaged in providing financial advice to clients but provide support services to Active members
c) Provisional Members - members under the age of 40 who are directly engaged in providing financial advice to members of the public but currently do not meet all criterial for Active membership
d) Honorary Members - as determined by the CALU Board
