- Energy Efficiency Act: WWF has ongoing discussion with officials and Parliamentarians regarding opportunities for energy efficiency improvements; WWF is partnering with NRCan in the development and delivery of public awareness on energy efficiency
- Environment Canada in respect of need to complete funding decision before summer field season

Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution
- Bill C-288 (Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act): WWF has supported adoption of this Bill and commented on the approaches to compliance.
- Bill C-30 (Canada's Clean Air and Climate Change Act): WWF has provided perspectives on this Bill including on GHG reduction targets and supported energy efficiency amendments.
- Bill C-377 (Prevent Dangerous Climate Change): WWF was invited by the Standing Committee to be a witness
- Consulted with DFO on Bill C-32 (proposed new Fisheries Act) and called for stronger habitat protection provisions. Was involved in public consultations on the Resource Management Sustainable Development Framework.
- Environment Canada, in respect of need to expand Nahanni National Park
- Federal-provincial agreement to establish Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area
- Meeting with Baird re: sponsorship of Shutotagot'ine Nene protected area.
- Orders in Coucil for the following NWT sites: Akaitcho withdrawal, East Arm National Park, Ramparts, Nahanni expansion.
Policies or Program
- DFO, in respect of need to implement integrated oceans management plans
- Detailed policies, plans and targets under National/New Water Strategy proposed by Federal government in Budget speech 2007 and Throne speech 2007.
- Increasing regional and national enforcement of CITES in Canada
- JRP EA review for proposed Mackenzie Gas project, and some major advocacy aimed at fed govt and Govt of NWT.
- Lobbied DFO to develop a cod recovery strategy for the Newfoundland Region that includes specific measures for limiting fishing mortality. Also called for the protection of coldwater coral hotspots in the Newfoundland Region.
- Lobbied for the establishment of networks of MPAs in Atlantic Canada (under the DFO and Environment Canada marine protected area programs).
- Lobbied for the timely development of integrated management plans for Atlantic Canada that lead to the establishment of networks of marine protected areas.
- Lobbying for appropriate regs for Beaufort Sea Taryum Naryiut proposed MPA (beluga whales), to not allow industrial activity in marine protected area.
- Mainly NWT protected areas proposals, via Territorial Lands Act and regs, policies and NWT PAS program, relating also to environmental assessment, funding pitches for NWT PAS implementation, etc.
- Meeting with Strahl re: review of Northern Environmental regulations.
- Parks Canada, in respect of neeed to complete National Park System
- Seeking support of fisheries certification schemes; management decisions based on precautionary principle
- Served on Ministers advisory Cttee (SARAC) on full suite of aspects. Also lobbying for Endangered Species Recovery Fund partnership contribution agreement payment.
- Testifying at Mackenzie Gas Hearings, Inuvik
Regulation
- Amendment to Schedule 1 of the regulations to include the species added to CITES at CoP 14
- Energy Efficiency Act: WWF has engaged with relevant officials to advance more aggressive regulatory schedule and energy performance requirements
- Environment Canada in respect of need to complete interim land withdrawals of northern protected areas
- Lobbying for regulation would relate to full preparation measures necessary to achieve properly planned balance of conservation and development.
