- CFIA FRESH FRUIT & VEGETABLE DESTINATION INSPECTION SERVICE. WE CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THE CANADIAN FOOD INSPECTION AGENCY (CFIA) ON IMPLEMENTING THE NEW DELIVERY MODEL FOR DESTINATION INSPECTION SERVICES FOR FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES WHICH WAS LAUNCHED IN MARCH 2007. WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THE CFIA ON FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS NEW SERVICE.
- ECONOMIC FRAUD IN THE FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE SECTOR, NOTABLY FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH BANKRUPTCY AND INSOVENCY. WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE SECTOR FOR EVIDENCE OF ECONOMIC FRAUD, NOTABLY FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH BANKRUPTCY AND INSOVENCY. EVIDENCE OF ANY SUCH ACTIVITY WILL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF OFFICIALS AT CFIA, AAFC, INDUSTRY CANADA AND THE RCMP.
- ENFORCEMENT OF LICENSING AND ARBITRATION REGULATIONS. WE HAVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK CLOSELY WITH CFIA TO ENSURE PARTIES WHO ARE SUBJECT TO THE LICENSING AND ARBITRATION REGULATIONS ARE APPROPRIATELY LICENSED OR MEMBERS OF THE DRC.
- EXPLORE MERITS OF ESTABLISHING A TRUST IN CANADA TO PROTECT SELLERS OF FRESH FRUITS AND VEGATABLES. WE CONTINUE TO COMMUNICATE WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF AAFC, CFIA, INDUSTRY CANADA AND PROVINCIAL AND TERRITORIAL DEPARTMETNS OF AGRICULTURE ABOUT THE FEASIBILITY AND MERITS OF IMPLEMENTING A RISK MITIGATION TOOL IN CANADA IN THE FORM OF A STATUTORY TRUST SIMILAR TO ONE ALREADY IN PLACE IN THE U.S.) WHICH IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE LOSSES TO SELLERS OF FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND INCREASE THE STABLILITY OF THE INDUSTRY BY DECREASING THE TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT OF INSOVENCY AND BANKRUPTCY AS WELL AS PROTECTING THE PUBLIC INTEREST. WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THESE SAME PARTIES TO EXPLORE THE FEASIBILITY AND MERITS OF IMPLEMENTING SUCH A RISK MITIGATION TOOL IN CANADA.
- STANDARDIZE GRADES AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR FRESH FRUITS AND VEGATABLES BETWEEN CANADA AND THE UNTIED STATES. WE WORKED WITH CFIA AND AAFC ON A PROJECT TO STANDARDIZE GRADES AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES BETWEEN CANADA AND THE UNTIED STATES. WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO INTO THE FUTURE.
- STREAMLINING REGUALTIONS (SMART REGULATIONS). WE ARE INTERESTED IN THE STREAMLINING REGULATIONS INITIATIVE AS IT APPLIES TO PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE LICENSING AND ARBITRATION REGULATIONS AS WELL AS TO OTHER REGULATIONS THAT IMPACT THE FRESH FRUIT & VEGETABLE SECTOR. WE PLAN TO CONTINUE PARTICIPATING IN ANY MEETINGS REGARDING THIS INTIATIVE WITH THE PRIVY COUNCIL OFFICE, TREASURY BOARD AND THE CANADIAN FOOD INSPECTION AGENCY.
- THIRD PARTY DELIVERY - LICENSING AND ARBITRATION PROGRAM. WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THE CANADIAN FOOD INSPECTION AGENCY TO EXPLORE OPTIONS FOR THIRD PARTY DELIVERY OF THE LICENSING AND ARBITRATION PROGRAM.

- FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE REGULATIONS PURSUANT TO THE CANADA AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS ACT; WE WILL MONITOR PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE REGULATIONS, PARTICULARLY AS THEY RELATE TO GRADE STANDARDS AND THE INDUSTRY PROJECT TO STANDARDIZE GRADE STANDARDS AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES WITH THE UNITED STATES.
- LICENSING & ARBITRATION REGULATIONS PURSUANT TO THE CANADA AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS ACT; WE WILL WORK WITH CFIA ON CHANGES THAT ARE BEING PROPOSED TO THE LICENSING AND ARBITRATION REGULATIONS.

THE FRUIT & VEGETABLE DISPUTE RESOLUTION CORPORATION (DRC) IS A PRIVATE, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION OF PRODUCE AND TRANSPORTATION COMPANIES FROM THE THREE NAFTA COUNTRIES DEDICATED TO PROVIDING FAIR, EFFICIENT, AFFORDABLE AND ENFORCEABLE DISPUTE RESOLUTION SERVICES. THE DRC'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE THE NORTH AMERICAN PRODUCE INDUSTRY WITH THE TRINATIONAL POLICIES, STANDARDS AND SERVICES NECESSARY FOR RESOLVING DISPUTES IN A TIMELY AND COST EFFECTIVE MANNER.
