THE ASSO- CIATION IS THE VOICE OF CANADA'S AEROSPACE INDUSTRY. AIAC ON BEHALF OF ITS MEMBERS UNDERTAKES ADVOCACY, EXPORT PROMOTION AND EVENT PLANN- ING ACTIVITIES. |
Organization's membership or classes of membership: | AIAC HAS APPROX. 190 MEMBERS CLASSED INTO FIVE CATEGORIES BASED ON THEIR BUSINESS ACTIVITY IN CANADA OR THEIR SALES REVENUE. BRIEFLY, THE CATEGORY CLASS DISTINICTION BREAKS DOWN IN THE FOLLOWING FASHION (SPECIAL CATEGORY WHOSE REVENUE EXCEEDS $225M IN SALES; CATEGORY 1 HAS THREE SUB-CLASSES BETWEEN $20M AND $225M; CATEGORY II COMPRISES SIX SUB-CLASSES FROM UP TO $500,000 TO $20M IN SALES). AFFILIATE MEMBER COMPANIES COMPRISE FOREIGN COMPANIES WHO CANNOT FALL UNDER THE DEFINITION OF ORDINARY MEMBER. FINALLY WE HAVE A NEW CLASS CALLED ASSOCIATE TO ACCOMMODATE PROVINCIAL ASSOCIATIONS OF WHICH WE HAVE FOUR IN THIS GROUPING (B.C., ALBERTA, N.S., AND ONTARIO). MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE PAID BASED ON THE COMPANY'S SALES REVENUE WHICH IS REVIEWED ANNUALLY AND MEMBERSHIP APPROVAL IS A MATTER OF BOARD CONSIDERATION. |

OTHER ISSUES EXPECTED TO BE PART OF THE ASSOCIATION'S ADVOCACY EFFORTS INCLUDE ALTERNATE SERVICE DELIVERY, OFF THE SHELF BUYING, AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. OTHER ISSUES WILL LIKELY FALL OUT OF A THOROUGH ANALYSIS OF THE 1997 BUDGET. |
