WE ALSO PLAN TO BE IN CONTACT WITH TRANSPORT CANADA WITH REGARD TO ROAD SAFETY ISSUES.WE WILL BE CONTACTING THE TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS GOODS DIRECTORATE REGARDING THE LIFE TERM OF COMPOSITE SCBA CYLINDERS.WE INTEND TO CONTACT REVENUE CANADA AND THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE WITH THE AIM OF ACHIEVING A TAX DEDUCTION FOR VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS IN CANADA.WE INTEND TO FOLLOW UP WITH HEALTH CANADA REGARDING THE ISSUE OF SELF-EXTINGUISHING CIGARETTES.WE INTEND TO BE IN TOUCH WITH THE NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL REGARDING FIRE STATISTICS AND FIRE RESEARCH PROJECTS.CAFC IS IMPLEMENTING A NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION PROGRAM IN 1998. THIS MAY REQUIRE SOME GOVERNMENT CONTACT AT THE PROVINCIAL OR MUNICIPAL LEVELS.CAFC WILL CONTINUE TO REPRESENT ITS MEMBERSHIP TO GOVERNMENT ON ANY OTHER ISSUES THAT ARISE FROM RESOLUTIONS PASSED AT ITS ANNUAL MEETING IN PENTICTON, BC IN SEPTEMBER, 1998.
