Description of the organization's activities: THE CANADIAN PULP AND PAPER ASSOCIATION (CPPA) REPRESENTS 54 FOREST COMPANIES ACROSS CANADA. MEMBER COMPANIES PRODUCE 90% OF THE NATION'S PULP AND PAPER AND 79% OF CANADA'S SOLID WOOD PRODUCTS. IN 1995, INDUSTRY SHIPMENTS WERE VALUED AT ALMOST $50 BILLION AND ABOUT 80% OF OUR PRODUCTION IS EXPORTED TO CUSTOMERS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. THE CPPA HAS INITIATED PROGRAMS TO PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL TRADE, IMPROVE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF INDUSTRY PRACTICES AND VALUES.
