OUR FILE FALLS UNDER THE DEPARTMENT OF NAUTRAL RESOURCES AND WE HAVE REGULAR MEETINGS AND PRESENTATIONS WITH OFFICIALS FROM THIS OFFICE. OVER THE LAS SIX MONTHS WE HAVE ALSO MET WITH OFFICIALS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, NSERC AND KEY MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT. ITER CANADA IS NOT SEEKING FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THESE DEPARTMENTS, BUT IS ASKING THEM TO CONTINUE SUPPORT OF OUR NEGOTIATIONS THROUGH EMBASSY SUPPORT OVERSEAS, AND KEY PERSONNEL INVOLVEMENT IN THE TREATY NEGOTIATIONS.
Subject Matter: Prospective: AS A RESULT OF THE RECENT CABINET SHUFFLE WE REQUIRE MEETINGS WITH OFFICIALS FROM THE KEY MINISTRIES TO ENSURE THEY ARE INFORMED OF OUR ACTIVITIES. GOING FORWARD, ITER CANADA WILL CONTINUE TO LOBBY OFFICIALS FROM NRCAN, DFAIT, INDUSTRY, MP'S AND THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE. OUR GOAL IS NOT ONLY TO KEEP THEM INFORMED ON THE PROGRESS OF THE PROJECT AND OUR BID TO BRING ITER TO CANADA, BUT TO HAVE THE GOVERNMENT TAKE A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN PERSUADING WORLD LEADERS THAT CANADA IS THE BEST SITE FOR ITER.
