Description of the organization's activities: | THE WEST COAST ENVIRONMENTAL LAW ASSOCIATION (WCELA) HAS BEEN OPERATING AN ENVIRONMENTAL LAW CENTRE IN BC SINCE 1974. WE PROVIDE FREE LEGAL ADVICE TO ANYONE IN THE PROVINCE WITH ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS. IN ADDITION, WE ADVOCATE LEGISLATIVE REFORMS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND TO ENSURE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN ENVIRONMENTAL DECISION-MAKING. | ||||||
Organization's membership or classes of membership: | MEMBERSHIP IS AVAILABLE TO ANY CITIZEN WHO SUPPORTS OUR WORK AND SUBMITS AN APPLICATION ALONG WITH AN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE. THE FEE IS $20 PER YEAR ($10 FOR LOW INCOME). MEMBERS RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTER (10 TIMES A YEAR) PLUS SPECIAL UPDATES AND AN INVITATION TO OUR ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. THERE IS ONLY ONE CLASS OF MEMBER AND ALL MEMBERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. | ||||||
