THE ONTARIO HYDRO SUPPLY SYSTEM INCLUDES 68 HYDROELECTRIC STATIONS, 5 NUCLEAR STATIONS AND 6 OPERATING FOSSIL-FUELLED STATIONS. TOTAL SYSTEM CAPACITY IS APPROX. 34,000 MEGAWATTS, TRANMITTED ACROSS 29,000 KM OF TRANSMISSION LINES & 109,000 KM OF DISTRIBUTION LINES. ONTARIO HYDRO WAS CREATED IN 1906 BY PROVINCIAL STATUTE & OPERATED TODAY UNDER THE POWER CORPORATION ACT OF ONTARIO.ONTARIO HYDRO IS A SELF-SUSTAINING CORP. WITHOUT SHARE CAPITAL. BONDS & NOTES ARE ISSUED BY ONTARIO HYDRO & ARE GUARANTEED BY THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO. THE CORP. IS GOVERNED BY A BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF UP TO 22 MEMBERS. THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD ARE APPOINTED BY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR-IN-COUNCIL, & THE PRESIDENT IS APPOINTED BY THE BOARD. |
