ITS CUSTOMERS INCL 306 MUNICIPAL ELEC UTILITIES SERVING OVER 2,800,000 CUSTOMERS AND ONT HYD RETAIL WHICH SERVES ALMOST 1 MILLION RETAIL CUSTOMERS INCL 103 LARGE DIRECT CUSTOMERS. THE OH SUPPLY SYSTEM INCL 69 HYDROELECTRIC STATIONS, 5 NUCLEAR STATIONS AND 6 OPERATING FOSSIL-FUELLED STATIONS. TOTAL SYSTEM CAPACITY IS APPROX. 29,000 MEGAWATTS. TRANSMITTED ACROSS 29,000 KM OF TRANSMISSION LINES AND 109,000 KM OF DISTRIBUTION LINES. ONT HYDRO WAS CREATED IN 1906 BY PROVINCIAL STATUTE AND OPERATES TODAY UNDER THE POWER CORPORATION ACT OF ONTARIO. ONTARIO HYDRO IS A SELF-SUSTAINING CORP. WITHOUT SHARE CAPITAL. BONDS & NOTES ARE ISSUED BY OH & ARE GUARANTEED BY THE PROV OF ONTARIO. THE CORP. IS GOVERNED BY A BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF UP TO 22 MEMBERS. THE CHAIRMAN & MEMBERS OF THE BOARD ARE APPTD BY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR- IN-COUNCIL, & THE PRESIDENT IS APPOINTED BY THE BOARD. |
