The Association will be seeking improvements to the implementation of the Alternative Fuels Act by encouraging additional acquisition of alternative fuelled vehicles, particularly those fuelled by propane gas.

Bill C-9, an Act to amend the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992, with respect to new regulations to be introduced to govern the safety and security of transporting goods.

Policies or Program

Climate change policy: the Association will be promoting the benefits of propane gas as a transportation fuel for the federal government's fleet of vehicles.
Ensure that funding criteria for the Green Infrastructure Fund and Clean Energy Fund, allow for contributions for the construction of new alternative refueling infrastructure, specifically for propane gas.

The Association will be seeking amendments to the Environmental Emergency (E2) Regulations with regards to the registration of propane tanks used as a heating fuel. The Association will also be seeking to establish a joint industry/Environment Canada working group to improve the clarity of implementation guidelines related to E2 Regulations as well as seeking clarification on a possible Environment Canada proposal to exempt members of a Mutual Aid Plan from annual Environmental Emergency Plan testing.

The mission of the Association is to promote the growth and development of a safe and environmentally responsible Canadian propane industry. The broad functions include promotion of the interests of the industry, including working with government on legislation, policies and programs affecting propane, public education, incident emergency response, and delivery of industry specific training programs.
