Description of the organization's activities: The Winnipeg Humane Society operates an animal shelter that receives over 8,000 dogs and cats annually. The WHS promotes the prevention of cruelty to animals and has Animal Protection Officers on staff who conduct investigations on behalf of the Provincial Vet. The WHS also promotes the enactment of new animal crulety legislation.
Organization's membership or classes of membership: The WHS has over 25,000 supporters in the Province of Manitoba. Volunteers serve on the WHS Farm Animal Welfare Committee, The WHS Social Action Committee and The WHS Education Committee.
