The Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) is a non-profit organization, established in 1988, to raise funds and awareness to create a world without barriers for people with disabilities. For 30 years, RHF has worked diligently to achieve real change through collaboration, partnerships and teamwork, to create an accessible and inclusive world, and liberate the amazing potential of people with disabilities. RHF is leading a global movement to ensure that everyone has an equal chance at participating fully in life. RHF programs include: • The Rick Hansen School Program, a curriculum focused on disability awareness and social responsibility • The Rick Hansen Foundation Certification Program, a program to recruit, train and employ people with disabilities to rate the accessibility of the built environment and other areas (e.g. employment, customer service, transportation, IT) and encourage businesses to reach higher and exceed mandated minimum standards • Accessibility Grants, which provides grants to respond to priority needs of individuals with disabilities • Planat, an online accessibility database and administrative hub for the RHF Certification Program • Access and Inclusion hub, an online portal to provide a dynamic collaboration platform to give the movement a global voice. • Support for the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre, which houses world class spinal cord injury researchers and health care providers.
