Description of the organization's activities: | A) Types of services of our organization: 1.Changing Lives Program Unit provides personal & group counselling, family life education and community support services for families and individuals during stressful times in their lives. The Community Counselling program is delivered from FSA offices/ co-locations in the inner suburbs & downtown. 2. Family Violence Program Unit provides safety planning and support, personal & group counselling, public education and criminal justice advocacy regarding domestic violence with women, same sex violence victims; elder abuse victims, child witnesses of family violence, sexual abuse survivors & for male batters. Multi-lingual. 3. Community & Neighbourhood Development Program Unit provides community development, housing supports, convening and public education to improve social inclusion for newcomers, ethno-racial groups and young families. 5 4. Social Reform Program Unit researches and advocates for public policies to improve the lives of vulnerable groups, especially on issues experienced by the agency's service users. The National & Ontario Campaign 2000 against Child Poverty is a priority issue. 5. Options Program Unit works with adults and families with an individual with an intellectual disability to promote community inclusion. Multilingual. 6. Learn$ave is a five year Canada wide research project of Individual Development Accounts to help low income people save for education, small business or other learning opportunities.
