- S-201, with respect to an Act creating a government-recognized National Philanthropy Day that would declare Nov. 15th as National Philanthropy Day, a day to acknowledge the entire spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognize the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society.

- Increase the flow of charitable funds in the wake of the recession and encourage Canadians to enhance their charitable giving by establishing a “stretch” charitable tax credit.
- the Canada Revenue Agency's fundraising policy, with respect to guidance regarding the fundraising activities of nonprofit/charitable organizations.
- the elimination of the capital gains tax on charitable gifts of private company shares and land and real estate, with respect to the creation of this charitable giving incentive proposal.

Description of the organization's activities
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents over 30,000 members in more than 200 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.

Organization's membership or classes of membership
AFP members work for a wide variety of charities, from large multi-national institutions to small, grassroots organizations, engaged in countless missions and causes including education, healthcare, research, the environment and social services, to name a few. AFP members are required annually to sign our Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice, which were first developed in 1964. AFP instituted a credentialing process in 1981 - the CFRE, or Certified Fund Raising Executive designation-to aid in identifying for the giving public fundraisers who possess the demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties in an effective, conscientious, ethical, and professional manner. This was followed in 1990 by the ACFRE for advanced fundraisers. We also have a strong ethics enforcement policy that can result in the revocation of credentials and expulsion of members who engage in prohibited behavior.
