Communication techniques that have been used or are expected to be used in the course of the undertaking:
Informal communications, Meetings, Presentations, Telephone calls, Written communications, whether in hard copy or electronic format

Subject Matter: Areas of Concern: Agriculture, Arts and Culture, Conservation, Education, Employment and Training, Endangered species, Energy, Environment, Health, Heritage, Industry, Infrastructure, Northern development, Regional Development, Science and Technology, Small Business, Sovereignty, Tourism

Subject Matter: Retrospective: The Calgary Zoo had asked for $40 million in federal funding for the development of an Arctic program/facility (Polar Interpretive Centre/Arctic Shores to be specific). It was intended to focus awareness on conservation, research/development and education in Canada's north. Infrastructure Canada programs were seen to be the most likely source of funding. In the past 6 months we have determined that funds are fully committed from IC and they will not be used on this project.
Subject Matter: Prospective: Limited activity is planned with respect to federal government departments and senior politicians other than to keep relevant departments and politicians informed on capital and conservation initiatives that are moving forward with the support of provincial and municipal governments and the private sector. Inquiries as to federal interest in Zoo initiatives which relate to the North and the environment/conservation will continue. The goal is to determine if there are existing and/or emerging government initiatives to which the Zoo might become a logical partner/participant.

Details Regarding the Identified Subject Matter
