- Canada's policy related to prescription drugs including, but not limited to, controlled drugs and substances, as well as policy related to a proposed national pharmacare program
- Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association negotiations – to provide feedback and commentary from the pharmacy sector on any future agreements
- Non Insured Health Benefits Program (NIHB) - lobbying for the pharmacy services in connection with the drug benefits provided to eligible First Nations and Inuit clients, such as prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, nutrition products, etc.
- Patented Medicines Prices Review Board notices - to provide commentary and feedback on Canada's policies related to pricing of new or current pharmaceutical prescription drug products
Regulation
- Controlled Drugs and Substances Act ('CDSA') - to advocate for making the current section 56(1) class exemptions permanent and for the recognition of pharmacists as practitioners under the CDSA.
- Food and Drug Act - to provide commentary and feedback, when required, on the production, import, export, transport across provinces and sale of food, drugs, contraceptive devices and cosmetics and to provide the pharmacy profession's input on the safety and effectiveness of these products
- Potential regulatory pathway to permit CBD as a medicinal ingredient in certain health products for human use, regulated under the Food and Drugs Act, which would not require a prescription – to advocate for the sale of these products to be permitted in pharmacies only

Description of the organization's activities
The Ontario Pharmacists Association is the largest advocacy organization and continuing professional development provider for pharmacy professionals in Canada. We are dedicated to working on behalf of patients, pharmacists, pharmacy students, pharmacy technicians and the patients they serve across the province to evolve the pharmacy profession and advocate for excellence in practice and patient care by fostering inspiration, innovation, and opportunity for every pharmacy professional in Ontario. By leveraging the unique expertise of pharmacy professionals, enabling them to practice to their fullest potential, and making them more accessible to all Ontarians, OPA is working to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the province’s health care system.We envision a province with a collaborative health care system, where all Ontarians trust, utilize and support the role of pharmacy professionals and pharmacy services as integral parts of their everyday health and wellness.

Organization's membership or classes of membership
The Ontario Pharmacists Association membership includes more than 9,000 pharmacy professionals (pharmacists, pharmacy interns, pharmacy students, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician students, and pharmacy assistants) working in a variety of settings and roles. We also service close to 2,500 continuing professional development participants each year. Incorporated in 1966, our organization is governed by a Board of Directors elected by pharmacy professionals from five districts across the province, and includes representatives from hospitals and community pharmacies in Ontario.
