- Federal government support for Carbon Cycle Research underway in the Prairie provinces, and other joint federal/provincial partner programs from time to time, and examine phosphorus run-off into water courses.
- Funding from various government sources such as Environment Canada, Agriculture Canada, Natural Resources Canada, for our initiatives, to restore and enhance wetlands, acquire lands, educate Canadians.

- National policy of compensation to landowners for the provision of 'ecological goods and services', to be determined with AAFC partners.
- The carbon cycle research on wetlands and surrounding habitats - carbon aspect the program of interest is Canada's offset system as outlined in 'Turning the Corner: An Action Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gases and Air Pollution'. More specifically we are interested in 'Canada's Offset System for Greenhouse Gases: Guide for Protocol Developers' to ensure that our wetland and carbon research gets recognized so that wetlands are identified as an eligible carbon offset.
- The next generation of agriculture policy framework 'Growing Together', to restore grasslands.
The GreenCover Canada program of 'Growing Froward', which is the policy framework for agricultural programs.
The aspect of interest is to have a federally supported forage conversion program that provides incentives to convert annual cropland to perennial cover resulting in improved provision of ecological goods and services and reduced costs to government.
