- Continue to monitor and oppose any attempt to remove Section 43 of the Criminal Code.
- Continue to propose the strengthening of laws against exploitation of women and children.

- Access opportunities through House and Senate Committees to present and lobby for the elimination of child poverty through creation new policies or enhancement of existing policies.
- Propose that Federal Ministry of Child and Youth Services be established to harmonize policy and provision of services with a wide range of stakeholders to improve outcomes for children, youth and families

- Continue to lobby for the creation, under the Canada Health Act, of a universal health care benefits program for all Canadian employees, a national system for long-term and elder care, and a national system for affordable prescription drugs.
- We will continue to press for a more appropriate response from the Federal government in addressing cyberbullying in Canadian schools. The recent legislation is not what we had in mind as appropriate.

- Continue to seek to improve the regulations for the rating of films and video games to prevent violent products from being sold to children.
- Seek changes to the Employment Insurance Program designed to improve access to benefits for part-time workers and to take into consideration regional differences in the implementation of EI regualtions.

- Create a national policy and programs regarding youth mental health.
- Establish new programs to enhance income supports for low income families.
- To create policy aimed at income protection for retired persons including an enhanced CPP.

Description of the organization's activities
To advance the cause of education and the teaching profession by acting as the collective voice of Canadian teachers at the inter-provincial, federal and international levels. To facilitate the sharing of ideas, knowledge and skills; To conduct and foster educational research; To coordinate and deliver international assistance programs; To cooperate with other organizations in Canada and the world, sharing similar goals. To advocate for a Quality Public Education System across Canada.
