Description of the organization's activities: The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) is the authorative voice of dentistry, dedicated tot he representation and advancement of the profession, nationally and internationally, and the achievment of optimum oral health. CDA activities fall under four key results areas: measurable improvement in oral health; recognized leader in oral health, resources and membership support, maintenance of viable professional environment.
Organization's membership or classes of membership: 11 000 members, 8 classes of membership including corporate (voting), active affiliate, honorary, life, student, retired and supporting. More than 70% of Canadian dentists are members and 95% of dental students are members. Membership is included in licensing fees of all provinces except Ontario and Quebec where membership is optional.
