Description of the organization's activities

Since 1954, the DSA has been Canada's trade association for direct selling companies and their affiliated independent sales contractors (ISCs) who market and distribute products and services directly to the consumer. Membership in the DSA is not automatic. It includes an extensive review of a company's marketing materials, its marketing plan, and its product, as well as an agreement to be bound by the DSA's Code of Ethics and Business Practices. The DSA supports the industry through seminars, networking functions and the DSA National Conference and its website www.dsa.ca. The DSA has earned the respect on behalf of governments at the federal, provincial and municipal levels and works to maintain this respect on behalf of its members, their affiliated sales persons and the consumer.

The DSA currently has over 40 member companies, including such well-know names as Avon, GNLD International, Mary Kay, Nu Skin, PartyLite, Quixtar, Shaklee, Tahitian Noni and Tupperware. DSA member companies have close to 900,000 assoicated ISCs with retail sales of more than 1.3 billion.
