Subject Matter Details
Grant, Contribution or Other Financial Benefit
- Seeking funding from the The Tourism Relief Fund (TRF) to support sustainability within the Tourism Industry.
Grant, Contribution or Other Financial Benefit, Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution, Policies or Program
- Asking the government to consider increasing both Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) and the Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF) maximum loan forgiveness amount by up to $10,000 if the balance of the loan is repaid by the end of the 0% interest-free grace period; and extending the interest-free repayment period for CEBA loans and RRRF loans to December 31, 2024.
These changes will help reduce the financial burden many Ontario tourism businesses and organizations are currently facing, enabling them to more quickly reinvest revenues into hiring staff,
ramping up operating capacity, generating profits, and contributing billions of dollars in tax revenues.
Policies or Program
- In support of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada tourism growth strategy submission. We are meeting with MPs in support of the four key pillars of that submission.
(1) Measures on how to attract and retain a sustainable tourism workforce.
(2) On how to improve access for visitors to and within Canada.
(3) Way in which to develop and promote tourism assets.
(4) On how to build a regenerative and inclusive tourism industry
