Description of the organization's activities: THE FISHERIES COUNCIL OF CANADA IS A FEDERATION OF SIX PROVINCIAL TRADE ASSOCIATIONS IN ATLANTIC CANADA AND ONTARIO, AND ELEVEN CORPORATE MEMBERS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA, NEWFOUNDLAND, AND NUNAVUT. FCC'S MEMBER FIRMS PROCESS, DISTRIBUTE, IMPORT, EXPORT, AND HARVEST FISH AND SEAFOOD PRODUCTS AND SUPPLY INDUSTRY SERVICES. FORMED FIRST IN 1915 AS THE CANADIAN FISHERIES ASSOCIATION, THE ORGANIZATION BECAME THE FISHERIES COUNCIL OF CANADA IN 1945. THE COUNCIL'S KEY OBJECTIVE IS TO PROMOTE MEMBERS' INTEREST TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. AS WELL, IT PROVIDES INDUSTRY INFORMATION TO DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND FISHERIES GROUPS, TO THE MEDIA, AND TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
