THE CCTC BELIEVES THAT INCREASING THE EFFECTIVENESS AND CAPACITY OF INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN TOBACCO CONTROL CAN ACHIEVE THE VISION OF A SMOKE FREE SOCIETY IN CANADA. TO THIS END, THE CCTC IS COMMITTED TO ENSURING THE TIMELY AND PRACTICAL TRANSFER OF CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT FOR EFFECTIVE LOCAL, PROVINCIAL, AND NATIONAL ACTION ON TOBACCO ISSUES. THE CCTC ACTS AS A KEY FACILITATING AGENT TO COORDINATE AND SUPPORT ADVOCATES IN TOBACCO CONTROL. IT DOES THIS BY: CREATING AND MAINTAINING A KNOWLEDGE NETWORK; AN ACTIVELY LINKING KEY PERSONS AND AGENCIES THROUGHOUT THE TOBACCO CONTROL MOVEMENT SO THAT THEY MAY LEARN FROM AND GAIN FROM EACH OTHER'S KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE. THE CCTC SUPPORTS THOSE WHOSE GOALS ARE: PREVENTING TOBACCO USE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE; PERSUADING AND HELPING SMOKERS TO STOP USING TOBACCO PRODUCTS; PROTECTING CANADIANS BY ELIMINATING EXPOSURE TO SECOND HAND SMOKE; AND EDUCATING CANADIANS ABOUT THE MARKETING STRATEGIES AND TACTICS OF THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY AND THE ADVERSE EFFECTS THE INDUSTRY'S PRODUCTS HAVE ON THE HEALTH OF CANADIANS. | ||||||||||
