Legislation to Amend the Copyright Act with respect to requesting that any proposed Copyright bill be balanced and responsive to the needs and demands of consumers, and promote innovation and the ability to maximize the use of new technologies and to urge the continuation of Canada's position at international meetings concerning a possible WIPO Broadcast Rights Treaty to ensure that (i) Canada retains flexibility to maintain features of its domestic law that would require "exceptions" to any new WIPO Treaty, and (ii) that other international treaties (e.g. Anti-counterfeiting Trade Agreement) do not introduce de facto copyright obligations that are inconsistent with Canadian copyright law.
