In-house Organization Details
Description of the organization's activities
The Writers Guild of Canada (WGC) represents more than 2,000 professional English-language screenwriters across Canada. These are the creators who write the distinctly Canadian programs we enjoy on our televisions, movie screens and digital platforms.
What we do:
The WGC is the voice of screenwriters in Canada and an advocate for policies that foster the Canadian cultural industries. The WGC negotiates and administers collective agreements with independent producers and broadcasters.

Organization's membership or classes of membership
Screenwriters write the scripts that are the foundation of compelling films, television shows, and digital content. The scripts they create are the blueprints for productions, including not only dialogue, but scene directions, descriptions of sound, music, narration and more.
The work of the screenwriter attracts more talented people to a project, leverages more jobs and, when successful, generates millions in spin-off economic impact.
Government funding
No government funding was received during the last completed financial year.
