Description of the organization's activities
The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) was established by the UOIT Act in 2002. It is the special mission of the university to provide career-oriented university programs that would create opportunities for college graduates to complete a university degree. UOIT provides a leading-edge learning environment that uniquely combines academic knowledge, research opportunities, hands-on skills and a vibrant student life. UOIT is committed to conducting interdisciplinary research that will benefit society by addressing significant social, environmental, health and economic challenges.

UOIT’s Board of Governors has overall responsibility for governing and managing the affairs of the university. The university’s Academic Council oversees its academic affairs. The university has over 9800 undergraduate and graduate students in 70+ programs in the fields of business and information technology; education; engineering and applied science; energy systems and nuclear science; health sciences; science; and social sciences.
