Immigration: dans le cadre de son mandat d'accroître l'offre des services de santé en français dans les communautés francophones minoritaires au pays par la formation de professionnels de la santé francophones et bilingues, le CNFS a un volet immigration pour faciliter la formation, la reconnaissance et l'intégration socioprofessionnelle des professionnels et diplômés en santé formés à l'étranger qui veulent pratiquer au Canada. Le CNFS reçoit à cet effet l'appui de divers programmes de subvention des ministères suivants: Santé Canada, RHDCC et CIC.
Éducation postsecondaire: l'éducation est de juridiction provinciale/territoriale, mais lorsque cela touche les communautés francophones minoritaires au pays, il y a certains programmes de subvention du gouvernement fédéral qui concerne ce domaine tel que: la Feuille de route pour la dualité linguistique. Le CNFS reçoit donc du financement de Santé Canada dans le cadre de la Feuille de route, pour assurer la formation postsecondaire de qualité de professionnels de la santé francophones.

Langues officielles: 1) le CNFS pourrait commenter et être consulté concernant toutes modifications à la Loi sur les Langues officielles, comme par exemple pour le projet de loi S-220 mené par la Sénatrice Chaput. 2) La Feuille de route pour la dualité linguistique est un programme de financement essentiel aux initiatives et à la pérennité du CNFS. Le CNFS informe donc les hauts fonctionnaires et politiciens des résultats obtenus avec le financement de la Feuille de route actuelle et des initiatives futures que le CNFS prévoit mettre de l'avant avec le financement de la prochaine génération de la Feuille de route ou tout autre programme de contribution du fédéral pour les langues officielles.

Santé: 1) L'Accord sur les soins de santé 2004-2014: le CNFS peut être appelé à commenter le renouvellement de cet accord afin de réitérer l'importance du rôle et des responsabilités du gouvernement fédéral pour assurer santé et la vitalité des communautés francophones minoritaires. 2)Le CNFS reçoit l'appui financier de Santé par l'entremise du programme de contribution pour faciliter la formation, la reconnaissance et l'intégration des diplômés internationaux en santé et aussi du programme de financement touchant la formation des ressources humaines en santé au Canada.

Par la formation de professionnels de la santé et de chercheurs francophones et francophiles, le CNFS vise à améliorer et accroître l'offre de services de santé en français de qualité dans les communautés francophones en situation minoritaire dans l'ensemble du pays.

Le CNFS compte également un Secrétariat national, situé à Ottawa, qui joue un rôle de leadership et de coordination.
