Description of the organization's activities: THE COALITION FOR ACTIVE LIVING IS A NATIONAL ACTION GROUP OF MORE THAN 80 ORGANIZATIONS THAT FOCUS ON HEALTH PROMOTION AND DISEASE PREVENTION THROUGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. OUR GOAL IS TO ENSURE THAT THE ENVIRONMENTS WHERE CANADIANS LIVE, LEARN, COMMUTE, WORK AND PLAY SUPPORT REGULAR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY.

Subject Matter: Retrospective: THE GOAL OF THE UNDERTAKING IS TO DISTRIBUTE A BROCHURE THAT HAS COMMONLY BEEN CALLED THE ¿IMAGINE¿ BROCHURE. IT CONTAINS FACTS AND FIGURES IN REGARD TO HEALTHY LIVING AND THE IMPACT OF PHYSICAL INACTIVITY ON CANADIANS. THE BROCHURE WAS MAILED OUT TO EVERY MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, SELECTED SENATORS AND OTHER PUBLIC OFFICERS CONCERNED WITH MATTERS OF HEALTH. ATTACHED TO THE BROCHURE IS A COVER LETTER, OUTLINING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BROCHURE AND ASKING THE RECIPIENTS OF THE BROCHURE TO CONSIDER THE ISSUE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY WHEN INVOLVED IN DIALOGUE WITH THEIR COLLEAGUES. THE LETTER WAS SIGNED BY THE CHAIR OF THE BOARD FOR THE COALITION FOR ACTIVE LIVING, RICK BELL. FOLLOW-UP CALLS WERE MADE BY MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO A SELECTED GROUP OF MPS, SENATORS AND OTHER PUBLIC OFFICERS CONCERNED WITH HEALTH MATTERS - TO ENSURE THAT THE BROCHURE WAS RECEIVED AND TO ASK IF THEY NEEDED FURTHER INFORMATION.
