Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution

• Bill S-229, Underground Infrastructure Safety Enhancement Act, in respect of potential costs and liabilities for telecommunication carriers.
• Pending Public Safety legislation and/or cybersecurity legislation with respect to potential impact on privacy and operations of broadcasting distribution undertakings, internet service providers and wireless telecommunications carriers.
• Review of the Broadcasting Act and the Telecommunications Act, and related legislative proposals, with respect to the potential impact on consumers, and on the operations of broadcasting distribution undertakings, internet service providers and wireless telecommunications carriers.
• Review of the Copyright Modernization Act and related legislative proposals, with respect to the potential impact on consumers and on the operations of broadcasting distribution undertakings, internet service providers and wireless telecommunications carriers.

Policies or Program

• Broadcasting policy that takes account the consumer-driven competitive environment, including competition from licensed and unlicensed sources with regards to the impact of ongoing regulatory changes on consumers and on broadcast distribution undertakings in Canada.
• Development of the Government of Canada's Innovation Agenda, including the Connect to Innovate program, as it stands to impact Shaw Communications, and/or its customers.
• Environmental policy that would affect Shaw operations and customers.
• Ongoing discussions with regards to rights and interests of broadcasters and online content providers, re-transmitters and internet service providers in the context of copyright legislation.
• Public Safety and cybersecurity policy that would affect Shaw operations and customers.
• Spectrum policies take into account the allocation and use of both licensed and unlicensed spectrum by Canadian network operators.
• Telecommunications and broadband policies that take into account the investment and innovation necessary to deliver a range of dynamic and diverse networks to meet consumer and business needs.
• Trade policy, in the context of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, World Intellectual Property Organization, the North American Free Trade Agreement and other bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, with regards to the rights and interests of broadcasters and online content providers,, re-transmitters and internet service providers.

• Copyright regulations concerning the notice-and-notice provisions of the Copyright Modernization Act.
• Implementation of Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s Modern Telecommunications decision, with regards to the impact on consumers, the development of a revised National Contribution Fund, market forces, government initiatives and public-private partnerships.
• Radiocommunication Act, in relation to proposed allocation and transfer of spectrum licences.
