With a team of approximately 250 employees, Airbus Helicopters Canada’s headquarters and main manufacturing facility is in Fort Erie, Ontario. Airbus also has sales support in Montreal, Quebec, a 24/7 customer support network, and a team of technical representatives supporting customers nationwide. Today, more than 50% of the workforce in Fort Erie works on products for export. Airbus is the leading supplier of helicopters used throughout Canada in roles such as law enforcement, EMS, oil and gas, utility: mining, firefighting, powerline, search and rescue, forestry, environmental surveys; and transport: tour, corporate, and private. Airbus helicopters are dominant in the utility and parapublic market. Airbus is the market leading helicopter provider for law enforcement agencies in Canada. Today, 85 percent of the helicopters used for airborne law enforcement in Canada are Airbus helicopters. Key operators include the prestigious Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, and STARS (air ambulance service in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba). Airbus is a positive factor for the Canadian economy: employing more than 4,000 persons across all three business lines; creating more than 20,000 indirectly-sustained jobs in aerospace; working with more than 660 suppliers in nine provinces; and sourcing $1.8 billion CAD from Canadian companies.
