- Economic Development: CanGEA has approached the Ministry of Infrastructure and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada for funding for pilot geothermal facilities.
- Energy: CanGEA is asking for research funding regarding geothermal development in Canada.

- Climate: CanGEA is seeking that renewable heat be added to climate change mitigation strategies and funding envelopes as well as geothermal electricity.
- Energy: CanGEA does ask for core funding to help us develop the geothermal industry in Canada. The core funding would likely be through Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).
- Infrastructure: CanGEA has requested funding for pilot facility development.

- Regional Development: CanGEA lobby's Western Economic Development as well as NRCan and INAC individuals with Northern and/or Western mandates for the inclusion of geothermal in any forthcoming clean energy programs.

- Taxation and Finance: CanGEA is lobbying to get geothermal heat favourable tax status under the Canadian Renewable Conservation Expense (CRCE) and the Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance Class (ACCA) 43.1/43.2.
Regulation
- Energy: CanGEA is also lobbying to get the NRCan definition of geothermal changed from electrical to heat and/or electricity in the Class 43.1/43.2 Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance and the Canadian Renewable Conservation Expense.

Description of the organization's activities
CanGEA is the not for profit industry geothermal industry association. We are individuals, companies, universities, and municipalities who want to be able to develop geothermal energy in Canada. Our activities are clustered in the Western provinces and territories because of generally easier to access geothermal resources. CanGEA lobby's policy makers to draw their attention to the policy barriers that exist in Canada to developing geothermal.

Organization's membership or classes of membership
CanGEA's membership is divided between individuals and groups. Within the groups categories there are 4 different levels representing ever increasing participation in the geothermal market. Level 1 is for non-profits, universities and municipalities. Level 2 is for young/small companies. Level 3 is for established companies and level 4 is for large established companies.
