Description of the organization's activities
Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials used today. It's been used for thousands of years and is one of the largest building component for building, bridges, homes, sidewalks, super highways and dams throughout the world. It's strength, durability and flexibility and beauty makes it the key element for our communities. We invite you to learn more about our product and our members by browsing through our new web site.
The Atlantic Concrete Association (ACA) is a non for profit organization that has been representing the concrete industry in Atlantic Canada for over 50 years. The ACA is a membership based organization and acts as a voice for the industry. We have a board made up of twelve members that meet a minimum of 4 times a year. Our office is located in Halifax, NS and we have a full time Executive Director.
The objectives of the Association shall be:
-To advance the interested of producers and those directly connected to the concrete industry
-To work with other assocations to foster positive relationships
-To work with all levels of government to provide communications to
-To provide education initiatives for our members
-To provide networking opportunities for its members

Organization's membership or classes of membership
Producer Member. Producer Member. Producer membership in the Association may be granted to such persons, firms and corporations engaged in the business of the production of ready mixed concrete and operating facilities certified to the Association's Concrete Production Facilities Certification Program. Producer members include those operating Volumetric Mixers where each volumetric mixer unit is certified to the Association's Volumetric Mixer Certification Program. All Producer Members shall, subject to the provisions as to the election of Directors hereinafter set forth, be entitled to vote either personally or by proxy at meetings of the Association.
Associate Member. Associate membership in the Association may be granted to those suppliers of products or services directly related to the production of ready mixed concrete. Associate Members shall not be entitled to vote at the meetings of the Association. Associate Members shall, at the Annual Meeting of the Association elect from among their members a chairperson and a representative from the cement industry who resides in one of the four Atlantic Provinces to serve for a period of one year, or until his successor is appointed. Such a chairperson, along with the representative from the Cement Industry who resides in one of the four Atlantic Provinces shall during their tenure in office be members of the Board of Directors of the Association.
Affiliate Member. Affiliate membership may be granted by invitation to an individual by name only. Affiliate members may attend any meetings of the Association, serve on committees, etc. Affiliate members shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the Association.
Honorary Member. Honorary membership may be granted, by resolution from time to time of a two-thirds majority of the Board of Directors, to individuals who have rendered distinguished service to the ready mixed concrete industry. Honorary members shall not be entitled to vote at the meetings of the Association.
No government funding was received during the last completed financial year.
