Grant, Contribution or Other Financial Benefit

• The establishment of a Co-operative Development Fund which would be a patient capital or loan fund to finance the capitalization of new and emerging co-operatives. The fund would be set up with contributions from the co-operative sector and possibly the federal government.

• To review and propose possible changes to the Canadian Co-operative Act
• Understanding by the federal government for specialized co-op development programs that will help start and grow new and existing co-ops within specific sectors or populations.

• A national financial literacy strategy and the willingness of co-ops and credit unions to partner with the government in developing and delivering a new strategy
• Encourage government to educate public servants to the unique qualities and challenges faced by co-ops.
• To maintain a working relationship with Industry to promote the co-operative movement in Canada.
• to promote the business advantages of co-operatives to government, in particular Industry Canada and the regional development agencies, as a viable model for new enterprises.
