Regulation
- Competition Bureau - Provide input regarding the application of Canadian competition law to the ocean container shipping lines, organized in "alliances" and that call at Canadian ports.

As authorized by the 2023 budget bill, Transport Canada (TC) has extended regulated interswitching on the three Prairie provinces from 30 km to 160 km for an 18 month trial period beginning in September 2023, to evaluate the increase in rail competition for captive shippers. FMA will be in continuing liaison with TC and the Canadian Transportation Agency as this trial extension continues.
