Subject Matter Details
Grant, Contribution or Other Financial Benefit, Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution, Policies or Program, Regulation
- Promoting the construction the "Northern Dancer Energy Corridor", to bring natural gas from Alberta to a new gas fired generation plant, to be constructed near Yellowknife, NT. Electricity would be sold through a transmission line from Yellowknife to the mines, located NE of Yellowknife. Loan guarantees of $3 Billion will be requested by Northern Dancer Energy Inc., an Alberta company. Benefits the NT by opening up mining and jobs for northern development, by reducing the cost of electricity in the north. Benefits Alberta by exporting natural gas to NT. This will be an Alberta-NT trade agreement.
Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution, Policies or Program
- We are proposing that the Government of Canada agree to sell their 32.5% interest in the Norman Wells Production facility. This will allow the Norman Wells oil field to be sold and redeveloped.
Legislative Proposal, Bill or Resolution, Policies or Program, Regulation
- Recommending that the Government of Canada Privatize the TransMountain Pipeline.
- Tax Law Changes for Financing of a Roaster (for gold mines located north of Yellowknife). The refractory ores require heating to 1,025 degrees F to extract the gold. These facilities cost $750 million+ to construct, and special tax considerations (full depreciation over 8 years suggested) are required to allow the small miners to raise sufficient capital.
Policies or Program
- We are lobbying for the Government of Canada to purchase the privately held Ambassador Bridge, linking Windsor, Ontario, to Detroit, Michigan.
