The Global Centre for Pluralism (GCP) undertakes applied research and education activities to inform policies and practices that advance pluralism (respect for diversity) in Canada and in societies around the world. GCP advances this work by generating new research and resources/tools that enable evidence-based policy-making and support practitioners to advance pluralism in a wide range of sectors. Our work includes (i) the Global Pluralism Monitor, an action-oriented tool that measures societies’ treatment of diversity and identifies pathways for policymakers and practitioners to address underlying drivers of exclusion in societies; (ii) Education support to teachers and education sector professionals to advance pluralism in and through the education sector, including trainings for teachers and education professionals and policy-makers, as well as the provision of tools and resources for strategic planning; (iii) the Global Pluralism Award which identifies, recognizes and shares successful approaches to advancing respect for diversity in Canada and globally; and which includes convening briefings for policy-makers on the work and approaches of our Awardees, leading to concrete recommendations for improved practices and policies; and, (iv)our Peace and Conflict program which engages a range of policy-makers and peace practitioners in Canada and globally to improve approaches and practices in the fields of peacemaking and conflict prevention.
