Medic Alert's activities include: 1) promoting health by providing medical practitioners and others with health care information and services that save lives and protect against injury and loss of life, 2) advancing education by conducting research on social determinants of health, health systems, public health, health conditions, and other health and medical issues impacting the general public and disseminating the results of such research to the public, 3) advancing education by providing courses, classes, workshops, conferences, and other instructional events to health care providers and other members of the general public on health and medical issues impacting the general public, 4) advancing education by developing educational programming and tools for use by schools to teach students, parents, and teachers health literacy skills, and 5) receiving and maintaining a fund or funds and applying all or part of the principal incomes and income therefrom, from time to time, to qualified donees as defined in subsection 149.1(1) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
