• Lead meetings with all relevant parties, particularly the FINA Committee and all Members of the House of Commons and Senate, to ensure more cash flows to Canadian seniors now and in future budgets. This includes advocating for increasing the OAS by 10% for those 65- 74; exempting homecare services from HST, increasing the survivor benefit from 60% to 75% immediately and permanent elimination of the current mandatory RRIF withdrawal rules.

• Advance meetings and discussions with officials on fall legislation relevant to a new national pharmacare program.
• Coordinate and advance discussions with all Members of the House of Commons and Senate on legislative matters impacting Canadian seniors and older persons.
• Discuss issues and potential policy solutions related to home care, long term care, pharmacare, dental care and the overall Canadian health care system.
• Discuss national pharmacare and healthcare policy, as well as homecare policy, relevant to Canadian seniors.
• Lead discussions with officials on preventing US drug imports of key Canadian medications.
• To coordinate committee submissions relevant to Bill C-47, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 28, 2023
• To coordinate meeting related to programs and policies related to the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) mandate including CARP calls for mandatory RRIF withdrawals to be waived; that the government boost Old Age Security (“OAS”) by 10% for people 65 to 74 and that the government increase the Canada Pension Plan (“CPP”) Survivor Benefit by 25% for people 65 and older—from 60% to 75% and remove the benefit ceiling that negatively impacts a surviving spouse.

• Coordinate engagement and discussion and be at the table for decisions made and sessions held regarding the Safe Long Term Care act.
• Engage officials on the topic of housing, communities and infrastructure to ensure seniors and older Canadians needs are a part of any housing solutions considered in our country.
• Lead discussions with the relevant federal Ministers on a potential wage enhancement for Canadian personal support workers from federal departments.
• Manage discussions and engagement with officials around all aspects of policy, relevant regulations and decision making related to older Canadians and seniors wellness, health care and all relevant pharmacare, healthcare, long term care and caregiver programs and policies.
• Manage discussions related to dental care programming and policy.
• Organize discussions related to policy suggestions and programs suggested by the National Seniors Council and be a part of feedback given to the National Seniors Council.
• To discuss an extension of the policy permitting International Students to work additional hours off campus as it relates to the homecare labour market
• To discuss the SOCI report, released by the Senate of Canada on May 11, 2023, as it relates to older Canadians and seniors on the matter of Bill C-22.
• To hold discussions regarding the importance of RRBs in protecting the retirement benefit security of Canadians and potential legislative and policy changes.

Policies or Program

• Advocate for the continued independence and unity of the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and educate officials and staff on the importance of the current structure of the existing CPP for Canadians and their families.
• Continue discussions regarding immigration policies, particularly off campus work permits for international students, and a potential extension to the existing revised policy that permits international students to work additional hours off campus.
• Discuss the 2023 Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) advocacy and policy plan priorities with relevant officials in Q3/Q4 2023.
• Explore policy related to seniors mental health and well being.
• Lead and coordinate meetings related to seniors and older Canadians health and wellness.
• Lead discussions related to older persons, Canadian seniors and financial issues relevant to the cost of living.
• Lead invites for speaking opportunities at Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) events for Leaders of all Parties, Ministers, Critics and members of the House of Commons, Senate, staff and senior officials.
• Organize and lead meetings related to Budget 2024 and policies relevant to CARP.
• Organize meetings with the FINA Committee to discuss pre-budget 2024 policy priorities for older Canadians and Canadian seniors.

• Advance Canadian (CARP) discussions on future pandemic planning and health standards and how all policies impact older Canadians and seniors.
• Advance discussions on seniors dignity and the programs, policies and leadership required to ensure all seniors live with dignity.
• Lead discussions and meetings related to economic and social issues impacting women (older Canadians/seniors/their families).
• Lead discussions related to changes to the building code that may facilitate policy/regulatory changes to co-housing policies
• Lobby federal health officials to align provincial and territorial partners and stakeholders and ensure national longterm care standards are adopted and implemented.

Regulation

• Represent the client at meetings during the regulatory phase associated with Bill C-22 and hold discussions with officials on how this benefit should be designed for the benefit of disabled older Canadians and seniors.
