• Carbon Removal Canada advocates for the Government of Canada to specifically earmark funds for carbon removal technologies from within existing funds such as the Energy Innovation Program. In addition, the Government of Canada should ensure that carbon removal companies are able to access financing support from the Canada Infrastructure Bank, the Canada Growth Fund, and the Net Zero Accelerator Fund.
• Carbon Removal Canada advocates for the development of a multitude of carbon removal technology protocols within the Canadian Greenhouse Gas Offset Credit Market. This includes beginning to develop protocols for BiCRS, carbon mineralization and enhanced rock weathering, ocean alkalinity enhancement, while also continuing work for the ongoing Direct Air Capture protocol.
• Carbon Removal Canada advocates for the inclusion of carbon removal technologies and facilities within the government's Carbon Contracts for Difference programs. This will provide more certainty around the economic incentives associated with carbon removal and close the incentive gap that exists between Canada and the US.
• Carbon Removal Canada advocates to develop a carbon procurement program, enabling Canadian carbon removal companies to scale to the magnitudes necessary to achieve Canadian net-zero by 2050 targets.
