Policies or Program
- Advocating for a 1-year extension to the mandate of the Canadian Pain Task Force in order to create an implementation plan for the recently released Action Plan.
- Advocating for the government to update the Interim Federal Health Program that supports refugees to include chiropractic care.
- Ensuring COVID-19 financial programs support chiropractors across Canada.
- Looking to improve the accessibility of Canadian Armed Forces personnel access to chiropractic services.
- The Disability Tax Credit Certificate gives Canadians the means to visit healthcare professionals. The current tax credit can be administered by doctors, nurses and physiotherapists. Chiropractors aren't currently eligible to administer the tax credit to patients, hence putting them at a disadvantage when compared to other professions.
Chiropractors are regulated in all provinces and territories, and can assess, diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions which affects over 11 million Canadians annually. CCA would like the tax credit modernized to include chiropractors to ensure readily available and proper care for all Canadians.
- Working with the Minister of Finance in introducing a one-time tax deduction for healthcare professionals starting out in rural communities, and ensuring it includes chiropractors.
- Working with the government to update the Student Loan Forgiveness program to include chiropractors.
