MANAGERS OF SOCIAL HOUSING ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OVER 700,000 UNITS OF RENTAL HOUSING ACROSS THE COUNTRY. CHRA'S GOAL IS A COMMITMENT TO THE PRINCIPLE OF ACCESS TO ADEQUATE AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING AS A FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHT. CHRA HEIGHTENS PUBLIC AWARENESS OF HOUSING ISSUES THROUGH TRAINING, RESEARCH, COMMUNICATIONS, LIAISON WITH OTHER NATIONAL AGENCIES AND ADVOCACY. |

Subject Matter: Prospective: | CHRA WILL INITIATE NEW DISCUSSION WITH FINANCE TO REVIEW POSSIBLE TAX INCENTIVES TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFFORDABEL HOUSING. WE WILL CONTINUE DISCUSSIONS WITH CMHC ON RESEARCH MATTERS AND THE UPCOMING TRI-COUNTRY CONFERENCE, THE AFFORDABLE RENTAL PROGRAM, MORTGAGE INSURANCE AND OTHER MATTERS OF MUTUAL CONCERN INCLUDING THE HOMEGROWN SOLUTIONS PROGRAM. WE WILL PROMOTE A NATIONAL HOUSING STRATEGY WITH GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES AND PARTNERS SUCH AS FCM. WE WILL REVIEW AND MONITOR THE GOVERNMENT'S AFFORDABLE RENTAL PROGRAM. WE WILL WORK WITH CMHC TO DEVELOP A NEW WORKING RELATIONSHIP INCLUDING POTENTIAL FUNDING FOR AN INFORMATION SHARING ROLE AND A CAPACITY BUILDING ROLE. |
