Policies or Program
- Discuss effective strategies and programs to support student transition to the work place and access to upskilling and reskilling programs for mid-career Canadians with Employment and Social Development Canada, including the Student Work-Integrated Learning Program (SWILP) and the Canada Training Benefit.
- Engage with Department of Status of Women and Statistics Canada regarding data collection and policies/frameworks regarding student safety on campus.
- Engage with Global Affairs Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and ESDC on the implementation of the government’s International Education Strategy – including the targeting and recruitment of international students and the design of the outbound student mobility program for Canadian students to study abroad.
- Engage with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada regarding the role of universities in supporting innovation through the full suite of innovation initiatives (eg. Superclusters, economic sector tables, Innovation Canada, knowledge mobilization, digital research infrastructure etc.)
- Engage with Statistics Canada regarding postsecondary education and research data collection and analysis with particular attention to the University and College Academic Staff System survey and labour market information.
- Harmonization of immigration policies with regard to the improvement of study and work permit processing to identify areas where policies and procedures could be strengthened.
- Increased supports for Indigenous students seeking to access post-secondary education.

Description of the organization's activities
Universities Canada has represented Canada's universities since 1911. We are the voice of Canada's universities. Our advocacy ensures that higher education is recognized as vital to Canada's prosperity and quality of life as a knowledge-based society and economy. We are a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization, funded through membership fees and revenues from contract management services and publications. Our mandate is to facilitate the development of public policy on higher education and to encourage cooperation among universities and governments, industry, communities, and institutions in other countries. We provide services to member universities in three main areas: public policy and advocacy; communication, research and information-sharing; and scholarships and international programs.

Organization's membership or classes of membership
Universities Canada has one class of voting members. Members are Canadian public and private not-for-profit universities and university degree-level colleges. At present, the Association has over 90 voting members. Associate members are non-voting national groupings of academic and administrative components of member institutions that have objects which are consonant with those of the Association. At present, there are 12 associate members. Members of the Association are listed on the website, www.univcan.ca.
