Policies or Program
- Air Emissions Standards.
We are presently working with Environment Canada on developing new air policy. Our objective is to make sure our industry is fairly categorized.
- Environment Canada - Offset System For Green House Gases. In 2009 the program was gazetted and will form the basis of a carbon trading system that Canada will eventually adopt. This will negatively affect our member companies in its wood supply as there will be some encouragement for fossil fuel burning industries to convert to wood residuals, our major feedstock for our products. This will drive the price and availability of wood residual materials in Canada. We will be lobbying officials and MP's at Natural Resources Canada, Industry Canada and Environment Canada on exempting residual materials from sawmills that have traditionally been used as feedstock for composite plants.
